About the Lower Hudson Valley (LHV) Action Team

As of April 2016, there is a mailing list of close to 50,000 supporters across the state of New York, with thousands of Lower Hudson Valley citizens who signed a petition or otherwise expressed their support for an aid-in-dying law in New York. However, our email list (which we’re using for outreach) is smaller—under 2,000 people. As you tell your friends and family about this cause, we expect our LHV numbers to grow.

Action Team Co-Leaders

LauraStaceyC&C

Laura Kelly from Mount Kisco (Westchester) and
Stacey Gibson from Garrison (Putnam)

We are the volunteer co-leaders of the Lower Hudson Valley Action Team for Compassion & Choices. Stacey has been involved since spring 2015, following the death of her husband, Sid. Laura became a volunteer in October 2015, following the death of her father, Larry. We both learned the hard way that terminally ill New Yorkers need another option at the end of their lives since palliative care sometimes does not relieve pain and suffering. We are now committed to advocating for the important legislation authorizing medical aid in dying being introduced in the New York State legislature.

Since Corinne Carey was hired in summer 2015 as NYS Campaign Director of Compassion & Choices, the campaign to pass legislation authorizing medical aid in dying in New York has really taken off. Corinne and her team travel daily to different communities across the state of New York as well as the government offices in Albany to educate, inform, and recruit supporters.

Amanda Cavanaugh

Amanda Cavanaugh is Corinne’s right hand and she is our volunteer liaison.
